Arbat is a modern pedestrian zone located on Beybitshilik Avenue. Opened in June 2018 on December 1, Arbat has become a significant cultural and social space for citizens and tourists.
The building of fine arts was inaugurated in February 2015 with the participation of the State Secretary of the Republic of Kazakhstan Abdykalikova G. N. and the then Akim of the region Myrzakhmetov A. I. From June 2014 to February 2015, 3 additional halls were added to the museum, the scope of activities was expanded.
The monument “Baidibek Bi” is the highest monument in Shymkent city. The highest point of the city of Shymkent in the north – 220 meters – was taken for the installation of the monument. The facility is the largest in the country and aims to become one of the main attractions of the Southern region. The hippodrome accommodates 1500 spectators. In addition to the stabling arenas, it includes 53 stables, a covered stand, a veterinary block, auxiliary facilities, and a spacious parking lot for 310 cars.
“Exhibition Center” is a specialized 2-storey center with an area of 2000 thousand square meters located in the new administrative business center of Shymkent city. Various business forums, tourist events, as well as exhibitions, fairs of agricultural producers from the South and far abroad are held here.
In Shymkent with time the number of sights that have added charm to the city is growing. One of such architectural places is Nauryz Square. Nauryz Square occupies an area of more than 1 hectare. 100 million tenge has been allocated for this object financed from the regional budget. The bas-relief compositions “aul – golden cradle” are located on this territory.
«Opera and Ballet Theater» is one of the proudest cultural objects of Shymkent city. Since not much time has passed since the opening of the theater, today it is the youngest theater in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Outside and inside the building of the Opera and Ballet Theater in Shymkent are decorated in the Kazakh national style. The capacity of the concert hall is 350 seats.
All the work of the Russian Drama Theater, which often travels to the districts of the region to stage performances, including unscheduled events, a diverse repertoire of new interesting productions, is aimed at the development of culture of the city, the education of both children and adults, enriching the cultural life of the city.
Turkestan Palace of Celebrations – this palace with a hall for 1420 seats hosts international and republican events, conferences, gala evenings and concerts. The building fully complies with modern standards and was built with facilities for people with disabilities.
The circus opened on December 17, 2011. The building of the institution stands out for its unusual design. To date, 145 employees work in 11 departments of the institution: clowns, acrobats and magicians, which simultaneously delight 1200 spectators. Recently built alley in the area of “Lake” of Al-Farabi district was named – “Shamshi alemi”. This beautiful name will serve the people for centuries. This is an alley timed to the 80th anniversary of Shamshi Kaldayakov, who became the king of Kazakh waltz.

Kazakh Academic Drama Theater named after Zhumat Shanin opened the doors of its new building in 2014. The building, designed for 500 seats, meets all international requirements for the theater and is equipped with the necessary equipment. The height of the stage is 30 meters.
The theater of puppets and young spectators in Shymkent was opened in 1983. The repertoire of the theater with a 41-year history has about 150 productions of domestic and foreign authors in Kazakh and Russian languages.
It was established on March 14, 2003 in the Sairam residential area. The repertoire of the Uzbek theater is replenished every year with new comedies, dramas, tragedies of classics and modern playwrights. The humorous scenes are of particular interest to the public, mainly because they are taken from the reality of life and local jokes are used.
This building is an important landmark in the cultural history of Shymkent. It was constructed in the 1970s as the Kazakhstan cinema and served for decades as a center of cultural life for the city’s residents. In 2014–2015, it underwent major renovations and was transferred to the Shymkent City Branch of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan.
