On October 25, 2026, the “Kites” Festival was held at ShymCity Park in Shymkent to celebrate Republic Day. The event was organized by the Visit Shymkent Tourist Information Center.
The festival aimed to create a festive atmosphere for residents and visitors, promote family leisure activities, and showcase Shymkent’s tourism potential.
As part of the event, 1,000 kites were flown simultaneously. The programme featured kite-flying competitions, a giant kite show, workshops for children, and a variety of interactive activities. Guests enjoyed live music, performances by dance groups, and DJ sets. Children were also entertained by animators and a soap bubble show, while dedicated leisure areas were available for families.
The festival also marked the closing of the motorcycle season, with around 200 motorcyclists taking part.
The event gave residents and visitors an opportunity to spend quality time with their families, enjoy the festive open-air atmosphere, and celebrate Republic Day in a memorable way.
