International Handicraft Exhibition-Fair Held in Shymkent

On November 21–22, Shymkent hosted a large-scale exhibition-fair of handicraft masters as part of the international Turkic World Ethnodesigners Forum “MIRAS.” The two-day forum served as a platform to promote traditional art and facilitate professional exchange among experts in the field of ethnodesign.

On the second day of the event, a special exhibition-fair was held at the “Kyzgaldaq” Palace, bringing together artisans from various countries and regions. They showcased jewelry, ethnic-style clothing made from natural materials, and traditional decorative and applied art pieces. Visitors could purchase the items they liked and engage directly with the artisans, learning about the creation process and the cultural significance behind each piece.

The masterclasses held during the exhibition drew considerable interest. Ethnodesign professionals demonstrated techniques for creating national handicrafts and shared their expertise. Participants observed traditional processes such as felt making, embroidery, and jewelry crafting, gaining deeper insight into the history and intricacies of these art forms.

The “MIRAS” forum made a meaningful contribution to promoting the cultural heritage of Turkic peoples and strengthening creative cooperation within the ethnodesign community. The event in Shymkent offered residents and guests of the megacity an opportunity to once again connect with the rich world of traditional arts.
