The Kasiret Memorial Complex
Description: The Kasiret Memorial Complex was built for victims of political repression. It is located in the Albastysai gorge, where the blood of many people was shed in 1937-1938. The political repressions of the 30s, 40s and early 50s claimed thousands of lives. 101 thousand people were repressed in Kazakhstan, 27 thousand were shot. Of these, 7 thousand people are from Southern Kazakhstan. The memorial is made in a simple style: marble products are installed inside two grilles, a crying eye is depicted on the wall behind the grating. Nearby, a large stone covers the burial place of the victims. There is a statue of a mother holding her child at the top. It is quiet around the monument, a beautiful memorial park has been created. Green grass, fragrant roses, fruit trees-all this is a reminder to us that history, life and beauty must continue, despite all the tragedy. Every year, on May 31, Kazakhstan celebrates the Day of Remembrance of Victims of Political Repression.
