The Citadel
Description: An archaeological object of the Republic of Kazakhstan included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Monuments of local importance. Excavations from 2003 to 2004 proved the 2,200-year history of the city.
Archaeologists have conducted an examination of several stages of the city's development. The castle (Citadel) was a fortress protecting the city from the enemy. The current preserved part of the city is designated as Shahristan and the citadel.
The citadel is the oldest territory of the city, covering the I-XIX centuries, where the ruler's palace, the commander's house, and the shopping area used to be located. Today, the complex is an open-air museum.

Dinmukhamed Akhmetuly Kunaev Museum
Description: Dinmukhamed Akhmetuly Kunaev Museum. In 2005, the museum of the famous politician and public figure of the Kazakh SSR Dinmukhamed Akhmetuly Kunaev was opened in Shymkent. Dinmukhamed Kunaev is an incomparable organizer, distinguished by deep thought, broad erudition, but his main characteristic is his love for people. The exposition of the Shymkent Kunaev Museum presents about 400 exhibits, including personal belongings, photographs, portraits, documents, manuscripts, video materials and much more.

The Museum «Erlik»
Description: The Museum «Erlik» - The museum "Erlik" was created and opened in December 2012 on the direct instructions of the mayor of South Kazakhstan Region Askar Myrzakhmetov. On July 19, 2013, it was approved by the branch of the regional Museum of Local Lore. The museum tells about the history of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and the Afghan War of 1979-1989.

The Kasiret Memorial Complex
Description: The Kasiret Memorial Complex was built for victims of political repression. It is located in the Albastysai gorge, where the blood of many people was shed in 1937-1938. The political repressions of the 30s, 40s and early 50s claimed thousands of lives. 101 thousand people were repressed in Kazakhstan, 27 thousand were shot. Of these, 7 thousand people are from Southern Kazakhstan. The memorial is made in a simple style: marble products are installed inside two grilles, a crying eye is depicted on the wall behind the grating. Nearby, a large stone covers the burial place of the victims. There is a statue of a mother holding her child at the top. It is quiet around the monument, a beautiful memorial park has been created. Green grass, fragrant roses, fruit trees-all this is a reminder to us that history, life and beauty must continue, despite all the tragedy. Every year, on May 31, Kazakhstan celebrates the Day of Remembrance of Victims of Political Repression.

Kyluet ethnomurage
Description: Kyluet ethnomurage is one of the unique places in Shymkent. It was compiled by the hands of Kendebai Karabdalov, landed on an expedition in the territory of Turlan after Shymkent airport. Kendebai Karabdalov is a wonderful person. An artist, musician, historian and philosopher, he created an ethnomuseum in order to promote the ancient Kazakh culture. Inspired by the making of ancient clay pots, especially from one of the towns of Otrar, he founded a ceramics school to share this knowledge. There are many different products made of jugs, figurines, oil candles, clay. Their original musical instrument with ten holes (8 + 2) is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Museum of Victims of Political Repression
Description: The Museum of victims of political repression was opened on November 2, 2001 in honor of the 10th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This museum, which was opened for the first time in the republic for victims of mass political repression, is a clear proof of the importance of restoring justice in our state and society and perpetuating the memory of the victims of political repression of the last century. The exterior architecture and interior design of the museum were designed for victims of repression.

Local History Museum
Description: The Museum of Local Lore was founded in 1920. The museum is one of the iconic cultural centers of the city. The main task of the museum with more than 96 years of history is to acquaint the local population and guests of the region with the wonderful natural resources, history and culture of our region. Today, the museum's collections contain more than 93,000 thousand exhibits. Artifacts are divided into several collections depending on the material and history they are made of: nature (paleontology, geology, flora, fauna), metal, fine art, photographic documents, weapons, wood products, archeology, newspapers, wool and cotton products. Relics are placed in the vault of the foundation according to a certain system, depending on the materials from which they are made. The number of visitors to the museum is more than 100 thousand people per year.

The museum "Hakim Abai"
Description: The museum "Hakim Abai", dedicated to Abai Kunanbayev, was opened on September 22, 2009 in Shymkent, in Abai Park. There are guided tours for schoolchildren, videos are shown, lectures are given, and open lessons of Abai's creativity are held. The total area of the museum is 490 square meters, of which the exhibition hall has an area of 245 square meters.

Retro Car Museum
Description: The first museum of retro cars in the city was presented to the attention of residents and guests of Shymkent. Each car on display has its own history. It can be said that the retro garage team gave a second life to these dusty cars. It is noteworthy that all cars are still running. The museum displays 26 restored cars. Cars, each of which is preserved in the original state of Soviet times.

The memorial complex "Dank"
Description: The memorial complex "Dank" was built in 2010 on the territory of the Abai Park. The names of 140 thousand Bozdaks who did not return from the war are carved in stone here. The 35-meter obelisk, symbolizing the fusion of front and rear, and the "Eternal Flame" under it were built in 1979.
The black plaques, 200 meters long on both sides along the alley, are engraved with the names of about 140 thousand warriors from this region.
In the center of the Walk of Fame there is a monument "Zhuldyz", on which the names of 51 Heroes of the Soviet Union and 8 full cavaliers of the Order of Glory are engraved on red granite.
In the alley there is an open-air museum of military equipment in honor of the soldiers who died in the Afghan war.
