Zhami mosque
Description: Zhami mosque or mosque “Koshkar ata” is one of the brightest manifestations of the 19th century in Shymkent.
This is the only building in Kazakhstan, built on the example of classical Fergana architecture. Built by invited Uzbek craftsmen. The mosque is located in the Old Town (the territorial part is located in the center of Shymkent), popularly called "Mahalla". The main facade of the mosque has two minarets at the corners and a composition of three arches, complemented by domed lamps. In the center of the Western Wall of the winter hall there is an impressive mihrab niche, decorated with brightly colored mosaics. On the walls and spotlights of the arches, you can see Arabic script and floral ornate painting. Tourists can also enjoy this beauty, which is a living oasis in the hot climate of the southern city. Entrance to Jami was always free.

St. Nicholas Cathedral
Description: St. Nicholas Cathedral is located in the south-eastern part of the city. It was built in 1985 and is considered one of the newest temple-house complexes of the country in this area. St. Nicholas Cathedral is constructed of red brick. The one-story cathedral has a five-story dome decorated in the center and on four sides. To the left of the central entrance you can see a tall bell tower with another dome on the right roof. The arched windows give the architectural appearance of the building completeness.

Description: The mosque is located along Temirlan highway (west of Shymkent).
The Central mosque is one of the religious attractions of Shymkent. The mosque, opened in May 2013 on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and with the direct support of the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, impresses with its picturesqueness and scale. The unique architectural complex, covered with a large white dome, includes an ablution hall, an imam's house and spacious prayer halls for 8 thousand people. Minarets are installed in each of the four corners of the mosque, calling Muslims to prayer. The appearance is also attractive to the eyes. Judging by the beauty of the noble white marble framing the mosque, we can say that this building is one of the main attractions of Shymkent. Currently, the Central Mosque is among the most visited sites of the third megalopolis of Kazakhstan. A mosque with open doors for representatives of different nationalities and religions attracts tourists, everyone can look inside and learn more about Islam.

Big mosque named after Seytzhan kari Eszhanuly
Description: Big mosque named after Seytzhan kari Eszhanuly is located in the new administrative and business center of Shymkent city. The mosque consists of 4 towers. The height of the main dome is 56 meters. While the main central entrance door is for men, the left entrance door is for women. It can accommodate about 12,000 people and the entrance area can accommodate about 10,000 visitors at once. The building also has a conference hall for 1100 seats, a canteen for 600 seats, a marriage hall for 100 seats, a place for defecation for 428 seats, a madrasa and a library. The madrasa, which can accommodate 300 children, was named after the guest of honor Osman Toha. A 2-story parking lot is also provided for comfortable parking of visitors' cars. The internal architecture is also eye-catching. They are covered with kazakh engravings and suras of the Koran are written on the walls.
